The NRLA website carried a story on Friday last week that Ben Beadle, Chief Executive, has met the Master of the Rolls (the chief judge in England and Wales) to discuss court reform. This is the officer who approves court processes once legislation has been passed into law by Parliament. It is not just the legislation, but how courts make it work that serves landlords and tenants or hinders them, so the process is an important next stage. The piece touches on both anti social behaviour cases being prioritised and lack of confidence in the courts by tenants facing disrepair. I would like to see more about early conciliation to reduce the burden, but Beadle has set out some key prioities.
