WRITE TO YOUR MP

Writing
MP

Why write
to your MP

Your MP represents you. No matter their political party, it's their job to represent their constituents in parliament and hold the government accountable however, if they don't know what's bothering you, they can't do anything about it.

How to do it

You can email your MP but as email is more and more popular, you might want to consider calling, paying them a visit or writing a handwritten letter. Find your MP

What to include

We don't provide a template letter (and to be honest, a stack of identical emails does not work that well), but there are some things you can include and some you must!

THINGS YOU MUST INCLUDE

  • Your full name

  • Your address (MPs work for their constituents, so they want to know you are one))

  • How you would like to be contacted

THINGS YOU MAY WISH TO INCLUDE

  • I am a landlord (and number of properties, if they are also on the constituency)

  • OR I am a tenant

  • I am concerned about (include or delete) Anti-social behaviour, not being able to get my property back, rent arrears, slow access to courts, cost of court claims, disrepair, "fabricated discontent" (revenge complaints of disrepair following action on arrears)

  • Any specific problems you have experienced

  • I support the case for a specialist housing court and believe this can best be achieved with an associated conciliation service which can provide binding outcomes to prevent court action.

  • I support the objectives of the missinghousingcourt campaign and website, an non-party political campaign seeking to secure restorative outcomes for landlords and tenants.

  • I would like you to write to write to Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, asking him to reconsider the need for a specialist housing court and associated conciliation service, asking for a response which can be forwarded to me.

Please keep us up to date. We cannot promise to reply to every email, but we will read all of them.
